Oil Meets Defense; Pt 2

I was lucky to be able to set up a table as one of the vendors of DS Arms Inc Grand Opening, a rifle manufacturer in Barrington, to help educate customers on the process of rifle making. I spent the night prior feeling like I was back in high school making a poster board to illustrate the process. My goal was to tie in the importance of lubricants and cutting oils and also include the engine oils of the mobile range, TriCounty Tactical, that was also on site. IMG_8508-1

IMG_8509-1Coolants are just one lubricant essential in metal working and removal. Think about all of the friction from the cutting tool edge rubbing against the slab of metal that will become part of the rifle. All of that friction generates high heat and rather than stopping production to let everything cool down, a liquid coolant is added. This coolant also helps lubricate both parts so that the surfaces slide past each other more smoothly and damage is prevented. The engine and other areas of the truck that is the mobile range uses lubricants for similar reasons. Lubricants are EVERYWHERE! This may all sound simple, but with the advancement of equipment technology, many factors come into play when choosing the right lubricant.

I think both vendors and guests enjoyed the grand opening fun and hope I helped them learn a little in the process.
