I know your inboxes are inundated with emails on COVID-19 tips and company responses, and that you’ve probably had just about enough. I am hoping this one can inspire and maybe give a little light to the dark situation we all find ourselves in.
So many companies and individuals are stepping up to help in this fight. Whether it be through converting production to supplies, adding trucks to transport supplies, or donating money to help first responders get the gear and meals they need, its inspiring to see us come together as a country and as a world to support each other.
Here are a few things I’ve recently seen being done a local scale.
Rilco
Here are Rilco we have a very capable blending and packaging line dedicated to chemicals and lubricants of all sorts. In this time of need, we have sourced appropriate sanitizing ingredients to start producing hand sanitizers and disinfecting products that are currently in short supply globally. Our line will allow us to create squeeze tubes, 1 gallon jugs, and 5 gallon pails of sanitizer. Food production companies, municipalities, and first responders will have initial access to these products.
RPM’s
A division under Rilco’s umbrella, RPM’s is a reliability consulting company normally geared to the uptime of plants. RPM’s uses infrared scanning and vibration analysis to detect problems or inefficiencies in a plant before they become costly. We recently helped one of our food production companies test their employees for COVID related fevers. See the write up here:

Valdes Supply
Valdes is a family run supply company based in Wheeling, IL. They have ramped up stores of janitorial, sanitizing/disinfectant, PPE, and toilet paper to help companies access these scarce products.

Champion/Champak Inc
Located in Woodridge, IL, Champion is a source for multiple levels of germicidal bleach. They have informed me that due to increased demand, they have converted their entire plant to packaging the 6% bleach product, which is approved by the FDA to kill virus’ and bacteria. Current lead times on products are 12 days.

Alta Equipment
Alta Equipment company has a special high-pressure washer available for rent that is normally used for street cleaning, but can also be used to disinfect playgrounds, sporting grounds, parks, and large public areas.

Stachowiak Enterprises
AJ Stachowiak, maintenance manager for Airoldi Brother’s Nationalease in Wisconsin, has a successful side business repairing upholstery for truck/car seats. He has recently converted this to producing face masks for medial professionals. He can make one mask for $3.50 and is openly accepting donations to help with the cost of supplies. Missy Scherber & T. Scherber Enterprises
Missy is a social media icon in the construction industry and owns two small construction companies in Minnesota with her husband Trevor. She is conducting a breathing mask drive for first responders. You can donate or volunteer to help production of the masks if you have sewing skills.
