America First

What a truly exciting time to be alive. Every time I cross the state line into Wisconsin, which is just a few short miles from my home, the booming economy of the state and country are instantly noticeable. Yes, despite its crazy taxes and regulations, there is a fair amount of building happening in Illinois (Woodman’s, downtown Chicago developments, shopping and housing centers etc) as well, but it perils in comparison to that of Wisconsin.

The amount of people put to work in the Badger state is incredible and the sights of all of the construction make my heart sing. Its impossible not to feel motivated and optimistic when you look around on the drive up I-94.

From the highway expansion, side road work, Haribo Gummy Bear, new hotels, new medical centers and hospital expansions, Uline, Amazon, new tech schools, Briggs & Stratton, Milwaukee Tool, warehousing spaces, and all the Foxconn supporting companies that are constructing (not to mention Foxconn itself), its impossible to drive a mile without seeing some sort of construction.

I finally had a chance to drive by the Foxconn job site yesterday and was wowed by the sheer size.

What other good things are happening around the country in our industry?

Aside from a strong economy of 3.5% GDP growth, home values up, and consumer confidence at an 18 year high, Semi trailer orders are up 135% over this time last year! ACT Trailers pushed out 30,000 new units in one months time!

Averitt Express has launched a diesel technician training program for Veterans and their families, their answer to both help military vets and lessen the trade worker shortage.

and so much more!

The thing that stuck out to me the most yesterday when driving by all the job sites, were the excavators that had American Flags mounted right to the machines, flowing in the wind. I realized, these people don’t care about the silly nonsense in the news. They care about having good work that puts food on the table and supports their families.

I hope that the right people remain or are elected to offices who will help keep this boom rolling all over the nation!
